If you you are at all in the tech realm you should be running linux on your daily machine, pushing for it at work and utilizing it on any other tasks that you can. There are endless reasons why but i am going to share my top 3. The first…. and most important is the moral and mental superiority it provides over your coworkers that almost have an allergic reaction to you preaching from the pulpit of linux. This may sound like an exaggeration but after using for a little you will see that it can be both as easy or hard as you like. Despite their disdain you will see the fear in their eyes as your linux wizardry begins to make things better. Second, joking aside, work flows at least for me in my current roles are much better. With making better work flows comes the need to rice your machine so you dont want to burn out your eyes everytime you use it. Ricing is the key to happiness in my opinion. First thing you need to install is a window titling manager. The one I chose is i3. Now there are many and even arguably better ones but this is home for me. As good as it is if you dont add some premium rice to it you’re going to be sad everytime someone look at it. My top three Ricing add ons are poloybar, a new rust based terminal, and if it can be opaque you need to make it all most see through. After all of that is added you’ll find yourself zipping around electronically flying by the seat of your pants all the while living in your cyber punk fever dream. Check out r\unixporn it will give you the best examples of the peek customizations you can do. The third thing is not the run of the mill things like minded people would list about their favorite system; like it’s "more safe", "more free", and you can "become a power user". No the pinnacle to me is no mouse. Ever find your self switching to and from the mouse to the keyboard? Well no need to fret, linux knocks down mouses by 80% or more (no empirical data just my gut). I am not sure what has made me such an anti mouser, possibly I was a cat in a past life but the less I need to move to it the better. And don’t get it twisted, I am not typing like the wind nor am I so focused that rolling & clicking is too much, it’s more like I can feel the tech Gods judging me for my inefficiency. All joking aside this was largely meant to be humorous and more importantly just to get my toes wet in the blogosphere. Hope to bring more random tech thoughts to you alll in the near future. And if you made it this far thanks for your time. ~/resumesite on ☁️ (us-east-1) ➜
